"How to Use Tyranitar (E2)"
Article #133.

** 120 HP . This is just like a homing beacon, attracting you to it. :-p Given you have some healing cards in your deck, you can easily have Ttar surviving quite a long time. Healing Fields, Gold Berry, and Focus Band are all good ideas. (Don't use a Focus Band until Ttar is almost Knocked Out, because otherwise, you won't be able to use Gold Berry.)
** Bottom Stats . Fighting Weakness. =\ Tyrogue would have to hit you twice successfully for a Knock Out. Even more times if you use at least one healing card, such as a Gold Berry. It would deal a hefty 60 damage, and Rogues tend to be in the majority of decks. This is not a fun thing, so try to have less than 60 damage on you at any time, so be safe. Secondly, there is Psychic Weakness. I'd hate to try to get a Gengar deck past one of these beasts. @_@ Finally, there is a Retreat Cost of (*)(*)(*). This is NOT something you should want to pay. Either use Switch, Warp Energy, or otherwise, just let Ttar go down fighting, as it takes a lot of Energy to work very well.
** Evolves from Pupitar (Stage 2) . As far as Larvitars go, there are a number of choices: Neo2, Neo4, E1, and E2. Depending on if your deck will be using Fighting Energy or not, you'll probably choose a different Larvy. If you're running Fightings, the E1 version is probably best. If not, use either Neo2 or 4. Next, for Pupitar, there's 4 choices: Neo2, E1, E2, and Breeder. I'll advise not to use Breeder, only in the fact you probably won't be able to attack for anything useful, since it takes 3 Energy to deal any damage. As for Pupitar, just like Larvy, it depends on if you're running Fighting Energy. If so, use E1. If not, either Neo2 or E2. SO many choices here. @_@
** (D) Destructive Roar . On heads, it's the same as an Energy Removal! (I never did like ER and SER...) This attack is not worth using if you can do something that would deal damage, because by the time you could discard 1 Energy, your opponent would have already attached either 1 or 2. Just use this if you just don't have your 3 Energy attached. And obviously, if you do use this attack, find a Darkness or Metal and shred it. lol
** (D)(*)(*) Tail Slap 30 . At first, it doesn't appear that this is the greatest of attacks, but then realize you're dealing with a Darkness card. You can add on to this 30, simply by having some Darkness Energy. It can pile up very quickly, so this attack in itself is a threat to your opponent. But the beast's largest attack is next...
** (D)(D)(*)(*)(*) Gigacrush 60 . @_@ This card really IS the master of large things: 120 HP, 3 attacks, 5 Energy to attack, AND dealing 60 BASE damage! #_# First thing you would probably see about this attack that might not make you want to use it is the cost, which includes 2 Darkness. And what I'm going to say about that is to forget your doubts. You can easily get some combination of Darkness and/or Rainbows on Ttar. All it takes is 2, and the other 3 Energy can be other Special Energy that can be there to help you, such as Recycle, and so on. Even if you just have 2 Darkness Energy, this would deal 80 damage, AND its discarding effects too! This is when you wonder what they were thinking while making this card. ;) It is not easy on the Energy, but it's got a great outcome, if you can pull it off. As for discarding deck cards, just make sure it won't hurt you, such as when you're already short on cards (like when there's under 15 cards in your deck).
COMBO CARDS :
~Pokedex/New Pokedex. I know not many people use these, but with them, you could put more-or-less "useless" cards on top, so while using Gigacrush, you won't be affected as much.
~Pokemon Tower/Neo3 Parasect. If you want to make a hard time, use Gigacrush, and confine those cards to the discard pile! That definitely will make it hard for things to get recovered! (My next article is going to be Pokemon Tower, so come back soon to see more on it. :-p)
~Darkness/Rainbow Energy. You almost DEFINITELY should run 4 of each of these Energy in your deck, since Ttar needs at least 1 to use ANY attack. Try to use Darkness, and only Rainbow as backup, but regardless, you need both for safety.
~Metal Energy. This isn't the greatest idea out there, but it can help if done right. Each Darkness Energy's 10 damage bonus will cancel out the Metal's reducing of 10 for you attacking. Try not to have more Metals than Darknesses. Having an equal number of Darkness and Metal will end up dealing base damage on the attacks, but only reducing damage you take in. NOT a bad idea though.
~Energy Charge. Need I explain?
RATINGS :
Standard . Not a bad card at all, especially since you can find those Special Energy very easily. You can also recover the lost cards from Gigacrush easily. Overall, you just can't ignore this beast. 8/10.
Modified . The capabilities of finding Energy does down, but then again, that same amount of damage you deal is much more important, so Ttar is still an awesome card here too. This, and Tyranitar is one of my favorite Pokemon too :-p (After Ampharos and Articuno :-p) 8.5 /10.
TRIVIA answer from Mr. Mime .
You can't give a 100% definite answer! I never told you where the Unown D was! :-p It would either be 50 or 80 though, depending on who controls the Unown D. Regardless, no more Mr. Mime. :-p
TRIVIA for Tyranitar . It is not a common thing to have 3 attacks, so name all the other cards in existence with 3 attacks. ALSO, not many cards take 5 Energy for an attack, so also name all the cards that have a 5-Energy attack. ALSO, not many cards have an attack that require 2 Darkness Energy, so name all of those cards too! :-p
Thanks for reading, and keep coming back (most likely every 2 days I'll be writing a new article)!
